Ed Ammar

Ed Ammar, (born May 15, 1970) is a Canadian politician, and is the first and current Chair [1]of the United Conservative Party (UCP) in Alberta. [2] Ammar was elected Chair of the party on July 24, 2017, and previously served on the executive committee of the Wildrose Party[3]. In his role as Chair, prior to the election of the UCP's first leader, Jason Kenney, Ammar oversaw the registration process of the United Conservative Party [4], the administration of its leadership debates[5], and the adoption of the party's first policies in support of the LGBTQ+ community.[6]

Ammar is a member of the Edmonton real estate business community[7] and founded Real Home Advice magazine.[8] Previously a candidate for the Alberta Liberal Party in the riding of Edmonton-Decore, he canceled his membership weeks after the 2012 Alberta provincial election and joined the Wildrose Party in 2013.

Originally from Lebanon[9], Ammar immigrated to Canada in 1995.
