Ed Eichenlaub is the Democratic general election candidate for Pennsylvania's State Senate[1] in District 37.[2] Ed, an outsider to the political arena, having never previously held public office, is seeking the state's senate seat on November 8th, 2016. Ed won the Democratic primary on April 26, 2016.
Early life and career[edit]
Edward "Ed" Eichenlaub was born at St. Joseph's Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to his parents, Cyril and LaVerne Eichenlaub. Ed, along with his older sister Cathy, grew up in Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, which is located in Allegheny County. At the age of 12, he started his own landscaping company and has been working a variety of careers ever since; these careers have included working in the steel, medical, media, and health inspection industries. Ed now is married to Sheryl Eichenlaub and they together have five boys.
Education[edit]
Ed Eichenlaub went to South Hills Catholic High School. Later he attended Alderson Broaddus University, where he triple majored in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics on the Pre-Medical track. Ed graduated a semester early and finished second in his class. Later, he attended the University of Pittsburgh and completed the Microsurgery Program.
Civil service[edit]
Ed currently works counseling prison inmates in the Allegheny County Jail. Additionally, he has also been an active member of Boy Scouts For America for over 25 years; he was a Boy Scout leader, Cub and Boy Scout Master, Woodbadge NEIV109 trained, and a Committee Chairman for over 25 years. Additionally, he has served as a volunteer fireman in Bethel Park, Levittown, and West Mifflin. As an EMT, Ed worked with Tri-community South and West Mifflin EMS. He served as the Assistant Treasurer on The Friends of South Park[3] and on the Allegheny County Health Deptartment Safety Committee.[4] Also, he is a Penn State Master Gardener.[5]
