Eddie Hanson is a British Labour Party politician [1], who was elected as a councillor in May 2022 [2][3][4][5][6] representing the Kilburn ward in Camden [7]. Eddie came out a clear winner in the local elections for Kilburn and he also had the backing of many different local residents, businesses, residents association groups and also faith groups and other organisations in the community. [8][9] As well as being elected as a councilor, Eddie was also appointed as a Cabinet adviser[10] and is the Chair of the Licensing Panel D[11].
Before entering into politics, Eddie was the first black District Management Committee (DMC) Chair[12] and the youngest when he was voted in, where he chaired 21 resident group representatives, including Tenant Management organisations and also senior council officers, cross party councillors and had an annual allocated budget of £140,000 cc to spend on registered groups who placed bids to help improve their communities. Eddie also worked hard as a community campaigner[14]. He has organised various successful petitions and led campaigns to save Community Centres and against cuts to school funding. [15] Eddie is a mentor and a Strong advocate on empowering young people to have a better start in life[16] and a champion in bringing diversity in leadership and decision making.
