Career[edit]

YouTube Career[edit]

YouTube Channels[edit]

Burback created his YouTube channel Eddy Burback in June 2011.[5] His early videos consisted primarily of sketch comedy, and later his content became primarily focused on comedic commentary of popular culture and film, such as analysis of the change in late night talk shows over recent years.[6] As of November 2021, Eddy Burback has 887,000 subscribers and 63 million views.[5]

In September 2017, Burback started a podcast titled Ok I'll Talk with his friend and fellow YouTuber Gus Johnson.[7] The pair later started the Gus & Eddy podcast,[8] Burback's second YouTube channel, edited by Burback's twin brother.[2] The Gus & Eddy podcast is also streamed on Spotify,[9] Soundcloud,[10] Apple podcasts,[11] and Redcircle.[12] Central to the Gus & Eddy podcast is the mantra 'Boys Support Boys' after a running joke in the podcast involving Chris Hansen.[13][14] The 'Boys Support Boys' sentiment has become a staple of Burback's channels and the communities surrounding them.[15][16] Burback was invited to host a live episode of the Gus & Eddy podcast at VidCon 2020.[17]

Burback started a third YouTube channel in February 2021 with his brother Tony, called Burback. The channel features the brothers commentating on video game culture and games of their childhood in a comedic style.[18]

Appearances on other YouTube Channels[edit]

In September to October 2017, Burback acted in Par 9,[19][20] a four-part miniseries, on Gus Johnson's YouTube channel, along with YouTubers Curtis Robert and Tyler Klimek. In 2018, Burback featured in multiple episodes of Sugar Pine 7: 'The secret to getting on trending...',[21] 'How to be our intern'[22] and 'how to make a YouTube video'.[23]

Burback has appeared as a guest on multiple YouTube podcasts, most notably the H3 Podcast[24] and Philip DeFranco's podcast A Conversation With.[25] Burback has also appeared on: Funhaus' Dude Soup Podcast,[26] Chuckle Sandwich,[27] the Lunch Club Podcast,[28] Podcast But Outside,[29] The Official Podcast,[30] and SuperMegaCast.[31]

Burback has appeared on the Comedy Central YouTube Channel Comedy Central Originals,[32] starred in the Timothy Hautekiet and Dance Network music video 'I'm So Busy'[33] and featured in YouTube videos by Smosh Games,[34] Drew Gooden,[35] and NakeyJakey.[36]

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Burback featured in a social commentary comedy sketch with Gus Johnson which received some coverage due to a spate of illegal gatherings held by social media personalities at the time.[37]

Career outside of YouTube[edit]

In 2019, Burback was a finalist in the YouTube Comedian category of the Shorty Awards,[38][39][40] an annual social media awards platform. Burback has also been involved in the Canadian film festival Buffer Festival. Burback has made multiple submissions to Buffer Festival,[41][42][43] attended Buffer Festival 2018[44] presented the Excellence in Comedy Award with Gus Johnson at Buffer Festival in 2019.[45][46]

Burback also streams video games on Twitch, and as of November 2021 has 106,000 followers.[47]

Independent of his YouTube channels, Burback has a Twitter account on which he posts comedic commentary on current events in social media.[48]
