Edna Blanchard is an artist living in Duluth, Minnesota. She specializes in water colors and oil paintings and has exhibited at the University of Minnesota Duluth's Tweed Museum of Art, the Port Wing Plein Air Painting Festival in Wisconsin and the Duluth Art Institute, among others.
Early life[edit]
Edna Blanchard was born in Cloquet in 1939. She graduated Brookston High School and attended Mount Scenario in Ladysmith, Wis.. She also studied water color at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.
Career[edit]
Blanchard began painting casually in 1968. She was part of a group of painters from Pike Lake, Minn., who would create their art at Jo Kossett's gallery in downtown Duluth. She began painting more seriously after the death of her husband, Len Golen, in 1994, when she attended a plein air art workshop in Taos, N.M.
Miscellaneous[edit]
Blanchard has taught water color painting at the University of Minnesota Duluth's University for Seniors since 2009. She was president of Artists of Minnesota from 2012 to 2015.
