Egan Frantz (born August 25, 1986) is a post-conceptual American artist who lives and works in Brooklyn, New York.[1]
Early life and education
Frantz was born in Norwalk, Connecticut, in 1986, and grew up in the town of Fairfield, Connecticut. His mother and father are American musicians and producers Tina Weymouth and Chris Frantz.[2][3][4] He received his BA from Hampshire College in 2009 under the advisory of the artist and poet Robert Seydel.[5] In September 2014, he married French / Norwegian musician and vocalist Liz Wendelbo, best known as a founding member of the analog electronics duo Xeno & Oaklander.[6]
Work
Frantz's semiotic approach to painting — one that understands painting as a language — encompasses a variety of media including sculpture, installation, furniture design, and printed matter in addition to the traditional painted canvas or variations on that format.[7][8][9]
