Ehsan Aslani is a Canadian-Iranian filmmaker, cinematographer, and educator based in Montreal. He is known for his work in short films, music videos, commercial cinematography, and color grading, as well as his teaching contributions in film production, digital imaging, and media arts. Over the course of more than two decades, Aslani has developed a multidisciplinary practice that spans fiction filmmaking, video art, and documentary production.[1]

Early life and education

Aslani initially studied medicine at the University of Tehran before deciding to pursue a different academic direction. He later earned a Master's degree in Architecture from Iran University of Science and Technology. During this period, he also attended independent directing and filmmaking workshops taught by prominent Iranian cinema figures, including Abbas Kiarostami, Ahmad Talebi-Nejad, and Ahmad Alasti.

After completing his studies in Iran, Aslani relocated to France to continue his education in filmmaking. He enrolled at a film school in Clermont-Ferrand, where he earned a Master's degree in Cinema (exact institution to be confirmed). He later immigrated to Canada, where he began teaching cinematography and film production at various educational institutions.[2]

Career

Aslani began his professional career as a cinematographer, working across cinema, commercial photography, television, and digital media.[3]
