Ambassador Ekramy Elzaghat (born July 27, 1981) is the President of the World Development and Planning Fund (Wfdp) and the Permanent Representative of the Fund to the United Nations. He previously served as the Director-General of the International Governmental Organization for the Education Support Fund from 2012 until 2015.[1]

Early life, education, and early career[edit]

Ekramy El Zaghat was born in Egypt and earned a bachelor's degree in economics and political science from the American University, a master's degree in International Relations, and a PhD in the same field.

In the early years of his career , he worked with many civil society organizations. He was also entrusted with various positions and was selected to represent many Arab unions under the Economic Unity Council as the head of the Human Resources Committee.

He served as Secretary-General of the Arab Society for Human Resource Management, and during his tenure with the organization, he held many international positions, including Executive Director of the Education Support Fund in Egypt and later became its General Director. This allowed him to implement many training and development programs.

Arab Society for Human Resource Management[edit]

In 2010, the Arab Association for Human Resources Management was founded and it was a starting point for its career where it gained a lot of experience in local and international civil work.

He participated in most of the international forums held in Egypt, such as the Arab Consumer Protection Conference, the Arab Economic Media Conference, the Conference on the Protection of Intellectual Property Rights, and the Joint Arab Arbitration Conference. The authority provided many development and training programs for youth in various fields, which led to its recognition by many international institutions.

The authority, under his supervision, participated in files related to the Renaissance Dam crisis at the non-governmental level and presented research to the Egyptian government related to the geological damages caused by the dam.

World Fund for Development and Planning - WFDP[edit]

In 2012, El Zaghat founded the World Fund for Development and Planning (WFDP), which took three years of research and scientific planning to address chronic problems resulting from increased poverty rates and armed conflicts that undermine development. He established a research and development company to enable him to develop plans based on scientific principles that can be applied on the ground.

The WFDP is subject to international law and the public interest, and establishes diplomatic relations, bilateral and multilateral treaties and agreements with sovereign states and members of the United Nations. The WFDP is an international government entity with a special advisory status to the United Nations Economic and Social Council. It is accredited and affiliated with the United Nations Office of the Special Adviser on Africa (UN-OSAA).[2]

The organization's general objective is to prevent violent conflicts and promote dialogue and peaceful conflict resolution worldwide. To achieve its goals and fulfill its commitments, the WFDP, in cooperation with its partners, has allocated over 50 billion euros to work on the objectives and goals of the fund and to achieve them.[3]

The WFDP manages a range of programs that work to achieve its goals in areas such as health improvement, environmental development, social development, educational development, economic development, and agricultural development. It also includes activities such as conferences, forums, media workshops, cultural exchange centers, caravans, competitions, and festivals.[4]
