Ekster
Introduction[edit]
Ekster is a Amsterdam based smart wallet brand that makes everyday carry goods like trackable wallets and RFID-blocking cardholders.[1] Ekster began with it’s first products, the Parliament Wallet and the Tracker Card, after a crowdfunded campaign.[2]
History[edit]
Founding[edit]
Ekster was founded in 2015 by entrepreneurs Olivier Momma and Rick Scharnigg. They joined with Richard Canneman and launched their crowdfunding campaign which garnered over $1 million dollars.[2]
Absorbing Travelteq[edit]
In 2020, Ekster absorbed the brand Travelteq who make larger briefcases and bags. Their new partnership launched with The Weekender, a multi-purpose duffle bag.
Products[edit]
Wallets[edit]
Ekster wallets are mainly made for cards and focus less on holding cash, unlike classic bifold designs. One of the defining characteristics of Ekster Wallets is the RFID-blocking card holder that uses a patented card-ejection mechanism.
Tracker Card[edit]
The Tracker Card is a wireless tracking device that allows users to see the location of their wallet or key holder on a map on their phone.[3]
It uses bluetooth over short distances and a global lost and found network over long distances.[4] It has a two-way ring feature that allows users to ring their phone from their wallet or vice versa, and it can be voice activated using Siri, Alexa or Google Assistant.
Recognition[edit]

Solar Panels[edit]
When creating the Tracker Card, Ekster helped produce advanced solar panels that are to function in low-light, overcast and artificial light conditions.[5]
This technology is now being employed around the globe by DHL and a Rhino Conservatory.[6]
