El-Mehdi Sallah Ahmad Diab (Script error: The function "langx" does not exist.; born 1958) is a Libyan sprinter. He won the 400 metres gold medal at the 1979 Arab Athletics Championships, and competed in the men's 400 metres and 4 × 400 metres relay at the 1980 Summer Olympics.[1][2]
Career
Diab won bronze medals in the 400 m and 4 × 400 m relay at the 1977 Arab Athletics Championships in Damascus, Syria. He ran 47.92 seconds in the 400 m and anchored the Libyan relay team to a 3:15.1 time.[3] At another meeting in 1977, Diab ran his 400 metres personal best of 47.46 seconds.[4]
At the 1979 Arab Athletics Championships, Diab won the gold medal in the 400 metres with a time of 47.82 seconds. He also ran on the third leg for the Libyan 4 × 400 m relay team to win the silver medal in a time of 3:14.24.[3]
Diab was seeded in the 3rd 400 m heat at the 1980 Olympics.[5] He ran 49.89 seconds to place 6th and did not advance.[6] In the Olympic 4 × 400 m, Diab anchored the Libyan team to a 3:16.7 time to place 6th in their heat.[5]
