El Marcel Simpson (born August 5, 2005)[1], also known by her online alias Elscarex, is an British YouTuber[2], animator, writer, director, and producer. She is best known for her short film Balance (2022)[3] of which she premiered through her online platform. She also is a cofounder of Obitus.[4]
Her first short film, Balance, was released on July 5, 2022[3]
El Marcel launched her YouTube channel under the screen name "Elscarex" in 2021, gradually building a small dedicated online audience. It is believed this wasn't their first channel however many sources counteract this fact, some evidence for this stands on their "About Me" page on their personal blog.
Obitus
Obitus[4] was founded in 2022 by Elscarex and Victus,[5] it an independent production team, focused on short films released through Youtube.
As of 2025 there have no projects officially released there is an active community with concept and development via their official discord. [6]
Personal life
Simpson was born in North Yorkshire, England.[1] She became interested in storytelling and visual arts as a young child when she would use film as a coping mechanism to home troubles. She experimented with animation through free software and published those on now private YouTube videos. She is bisexual and on the autism spectrum[7].
