Electric Pyramid is a band based in London that creates Rock music. The band is well known for playing music at a local music venue, The Silver Bullet. The band is represented by the media, marketing and management company called 'Girlie Action.'[1] The band claims that their name came to them one night when they were drinking French Red Wine; they found it in a very old top hat. The band consists of 4 members; Ol, the lead vocalist and guitarist, Linda, guitarist, Marco, drummer, and Emma on bass. The band's members are from all around Europe. Ol and Emma are from the UK, whereas Linda and Marco were originally from Italy. The band now all live close to each other in London. In the beginning, the band started their rehearsals in Ol's boat. However, since then, the band have had the opportunity to record their songs in recording studios. They have released their own song, 1989, back in June 2016.[2] Electric Pyramid have had the opportunity to join the Queen and Adam Lambert Festival tour 2016. The band had the opportunity to be their opening act which gave them a lot of further fans. Joining the Queen + Adam Lambert 2016 Summer Festival Tour allowed the band to tour around Europe with Queen. In addition, Queen then gave them the opportunity to also be the opening act for the Queen Extravaganza. Queen Extravaganza is the official tribute band that is organised by Queen, Electric Pyramid joined them on their UK Tour.

Music

Electric Pyramid are currently working on a debut album with John Cornfield, who has worked with artists such as The Stone Roses, Supergrass and Muse.[3] The band currently have three singles out and two music videos; one for their song 'Rome'[4] and another for their song '1989.'[5] The band say that their inspirations come from 70s bands such as Led Zeppelin, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age. Their first single "1989" was met with critical praise, with Dale Beerling of HRB describing it as "a song that packs a punch".[6] When Electric Pyramid were supporting the Queen Extravaganza UK tour in the Liverpool Empire, there was a review of Queen Extravaganza where Chris High stated that Electric Pyramid were "fine openers” and a band “worthy of taking notice of.” In addition to this, he mentioned that their “latest single Rome is a beautiful thing” and their “alternative version of Moon River is breathtaking.” [7] The band’s music has been described as “90s/00s-inspired alt rock, but with the varied pool of influences, you’d be hard pressed to tell which side of the Atlantic we’re talking about. There are elements of their new single, 1989, that scream Kasabian and that 00s British style of rock n’ roll, but you could just as easily lump them in with a more west-coast US style from the mid to late 90s. ” .[8]

Critical Reception

On its release, the band’s first single was described as having a “hooky chorus, something that’ll float around in your heads for hours after listening” and also having “a simple enough guitar licks to go along with those woos and the lead vocal and it all fits so well”. The track was summed up as having “one of those cool, chunky, kick back rock tracks that fits with any image as long as there’s a cold one in hand to accompany it”. The reviewer praised the band and predicted a bright future for it saying “It’s exciting times for the London-based band, full of possibility. One thing, however, is more concrete than just merely possible, if they keep producing songs of the same quality as 1989, there’s no limit to where they can go”.[12]
