Electric Torque Machines "ETM"

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Headquartered in Flagstaff, Arizona, Electric Torque Machines, Inc. is a private company developing and manufacturing direct drive motors that are used in a variety of applications such as fans.[1], pumps[2], conveyors[3] and others. The company developed a new design for direct drive motors and holds over 20 patents.[1] The focus of the company is developing direct drive motors for high torque applications without the use of a gearbox. The company released its direct drive motor and controller designs commercially beginning in 2013[1]

Technology[edit]

The company’s development has been focused on high torque, low speed direct drive motors, with a proprietary design that, instead of using coils that wind in and out of stator teeth, use ring-shaped coils requiring much less materials[1]. Due to its high magnetic pole count and higher continuous torque output, the motors claim size, efficiency and weight advantages over AC Induction Motors and Brushless DC (BLDC) motors.[4]

Funding[edit]

The company received the Arizona Innovation Challenge Award in 2017 and has spent over $30 Million on product development.[4]
