Element Fresh
Element Fresh is a western-style health-concept restaurant chain in China founded in 2001 by Scott Minoie.[1] It is headquartered in Shanghai, China. There are now 38 Element Fresh restaurants in China. The CEO is Frank Rasche.
History
Element Fresh was founded in 2001 by Scott Minoie and Sheldon Habiger as a catering company operating out of Minoie's apartment. In 2002 the first restaurant opened.[2] It was one of the first restaurants serving healthy-concept western food in China and has been called "one of China's most profitable Western fine-dining chains".[3]
Over the years it was won numerous awards from local expat magazines,[4] as well as a Seven Star Award,[5] one of the most authoritative food safety recognition programs in China.[6] Element Fresh has the only Hazard analysis and critical control points (HAACP)-certified central kitchen in Mainland China.[7]
It now operates 38 restaurants in 10 cities in China.
The name Element Fresh was derived from the name Element 79 - the name of the first store - which referred to the periodic table entry for the element gold.[8]
Menu
The menu consists of both western dishes and Asian dishes along with a selection of wines, beers and smoothies. In 2015 Element Fresh teamed up with retired Chinese tennis star Li Na to create a series of new dishes.[9]
