Olena Filipieva, Elena Philipieva (Ukrainian: Олена Філіп'єва, born 23 May 1970, Dniprorudne) is a Ukrainian prima ballerina of the National Opera of Ukraine, ballet director in National Opera of Ukraine.

Biography

Born in the city of Dniprorudne in Ukraine. Her parents were athletes. As a child, she trained in gymnastics and then folk dancing. In 1988 she graduated from the Kyiv State Choreographic School.[1]

While studying at the senior forms she performed in Giselle at National Opera of Ukraine.

Since 1988 Filipieva is a ballet soloist of the National Opera of Ukraine and later also started tutoring younger dancers[2]. In 2020 she was promoted to the position of Ballet Director of the National Opera of Ukraine.[3]

Maya Plisetskaya claimed her to be the best dancer she had ever seen and presented her ring as a sign of their admiration for Filipieva.[4]

At the age of 23, Filipieva was awarded People's Artist of Ukraine title.[5]

Olena Filipieva performed in Japan[6], Canada, US, Mexico[7], Brazil[8], Germany, France[9], Italy[10], Spain, Switzerland, Norway and many other countries. Among her partners were Nikolai Tsiskaridze, Farukh Ruzimatov, Alexander Vetrov, Alexei Fadeyechev, Patrick Dupond, Denis Matvienko.[11]
