Eliezer A. Albacea was a Filipino professor of computer science and designated Filipino National Scientist credited with inventing the "Leapfrogging SampleSort Algorithm". He was one of the key personnel to the establishment of computer science education in the University of the Philippines System with the founding of UPLB's Institute of Computer Science in the 1980s,[2] where he was also designated its Director by the late 2000s to early 2010s.
