Elior is a French multinational company specialized in contract catering and services, with operations in Spain, the US, France, India, Italy, and the UK.
History[edit]
The Group was founded in 1991 by Robert Zolade and Francis Markus, who acquired a 35% stake in Générale de restauration, a subsidiary of Accor. In 1998, it adopted the name Elior and focused on contract catering and concession catering.
In 2000, Elior was floated on the Euronext in Paris. Between 2001 and 2006, Elior expanded internationally, notably through partnerships in Spain with Serunion and Areas,[1] where it became a leader in contract catering.
In 2006, Robert Zolade and two investor partners acquired 100% of Elior and withdrew the share from the stock market. The Group continued its development in Europe and the United States.
In 2011, the Group regrouped its activities under the Elior brand. In 2012, Elior acquired Ansamble[2] and consolidated its positions in Italy.
In 2013, Elior penetrated the US contract catering market via the acquisition of TrustHouse Services.[3]
Elior returned to the stock market in June 2014 when it was floated on the Euronext Paris[4] and integrated the SBF 120 in March 2015.[5]
In July 2015, Elior became the sole shareholder of Areas.[6] The Group reinforced its contract catering positions in the US with the acquisitions of Starr Catering Group[7] and Abl Management.[8]
In March 2016, the North American subsidiary took the name Elior North America and acquired Preferred Meals[9] and Waterfall Catering Group.[10]
In November 2016, Elior Group penetrated the Indian market with the acquisitions of MegaBite Food Services and CRCL.[11]
In 2017, Elior Group pursued its expansion in contract catering in the US with the acquisitions of CBM Managed Services,[12] Lancer Hospitality,[13] and Abigail Kirsch.
In July 2018, Elior Group acquired Bateman Community Living.[14]
On April 24, 2019, Elior Group announced the sale of its concession catering operations grouped within its Areas subsidiary to PAI Partners for €1.542 billion.[15] The closure of the deal was announced on July 1, 2019.[16]

Elior Group operates two divisions: Contract catering, essentially under the Elior brand, and Services, essentially under the Elior Services brand.
