The Elizabeth Seton School is a private school in BF Resort, Las Piñas and Anabu 2-D, Imus, Cavite, Philippines.
History
In 1975, Josefina V. Suarez, an educator, and her brother-in-law, Francisco B. Alido, Sr., a businessman, collaborated to establish a preschool in Bacoor, Cavite. They named the school after Mother Elizabeth Ann Seton, an American saint who established a religious community of teaching sisters and laid the foundation of the Catholic parochial system in America.
The school started with two classes in the 1975–1976 school year, with 14 pupils in the morning and 20 pupils in the afternoon, both taught by Mrs. Suarez, while both families attended to other tasks related to running a school. Enrollments increased yearly. Additional teachers were hired, and new levels were added each school year. In 1979, the school opened its doors to the first grade school students.
During its formative years, the school had to relocate to four different sites to accommodate its growing student population, until it settled in its permanent location in BF Resort Village, Las Piñas in 1987. This location also housed the first high school students. From then on, the school formally declared its status as a Catholic school. A new chapel, blessed by His Eminence Jaime Cardinal Sin and Monsignor Josefino Ramirez of the Archdiocese of Manila, was constructed in 1989.
After receiving its Level I accreditation from the Philippine Accrediting Association of School, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) in July 1997, the school management decided to establish a second campus to alleviate congestion at the Las Piñas campus and serve the needs of students further south. In June 1998, the Elizabeth Seton School-Cavite campus in Anabu II-D, City of Imus, Cavite opened its doors. Ten years later, on February 15, 2008, Bishop Luis Antonio Tagle and Monsignor Josefino Ramirez inaugurated the blessing of the Cavite campus's two-story chapel.
In 2013, long-time school consultant and mentor to Dr. Suarez, educational leader Dr. Roberto T. Borromeo, was installed as the second president of the school.
The Las Piñas campus is accredited at Level II by PAASCU, while the Cavite campus holds Level I accreditation.
The school received the first Excellence in Educational Transformation Award and is considered the most transformative school in the country. [1][citation needed]
Academic departments
The curriculum is aligned with the guidelines of the Philippine Department of Education.
Special Programs
House System
The House System has a point system that determines the performance of each house. At the end of each school year, the house with the most points is declared the Mother Seton Cup champion.
Zest for Learning and Living
The Zest for Learning and Living (ZLL) program aims to enhance multiple intelligences. The program is divided into three areas (Career, Creative, and Kinesthetic). In each area of discipline, students plan their own activities, chart their course of actions, and determine their procedures. They then evaluate the outcomes and recommend improvements.
Business Simulation
The Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) Entrepreneurship – Business Simulation involves all Grade 10 students. The tasks are divided among four teams (Management, Marketing, Finance, and Production). Class-wide tasks also integrate the decisions of the entire business team.
Robotics
The Robotics program is designed for junior and senior high school students to develop the 4Cs (Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, and Creativity).
Theater Production
In 1987, the production “Indak Himig” showcased various Filipino songs, music, and dance. This was followed by “Under Asean Sky,” which featured different ASEAN cultures through music and dance. Both productions were directed by National Artist Ramon Obusan.
On the 30th anniversary of the school's founding in 2005, the production “On Wings of Music” presented excerpts from Filipino and Broadway musicals. Five years later, “Milestones and Music” highlighted the school's 35-year history. All four productions were presented at the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (Main Theater) of The Cultural Center of the Philippines.
The 40th anniversary show, "40tude is an Attitude," was a two-part musical documentary presented at The Theater at Solaire. The interactive show incorporated poetry readings, voice-overs, video segments, live feeds, and interviews.
40th anniversary celebration
On 30 January 2016, the school celebrated its 40th anniversary at Solaire Resort & Casino's theater with a three-hour, two-part musical documentary performance by selected students from both campuses.[2]
