Ella Jane Roth (born November 7, 2001) is an American Singer-songwriter and Influencer.[1][2]
Early life and education
Ella Jane was born and raised in Westchester, New York. Her father, a jazz pianist, named her after the late Ella Fitzgerald.[3] She was accepted to Tufts University as an English major.[4]
Career
Ella Jane wrote "Nothing Else I Could Do" in isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic after a creative and emotional rut. For her final creative project in AP English Literature, she chose to write a song inspired by The Great Gatsby.[4] She then posted the song on TikTok in October of 2020. The Tiktok video of her performance of the song went viral, gathering over 2 million views. She was signed to Fader Label in 2020.[5]
Fader Label released Ella Jane's debut album, This is Not What it Looks Like!, on September 10, 2021.[6][7] Her single, "Calling Card," released on October 26, 2021 and has over 500,000 streams on Spotify.[8]
On April 22, 2022, Netflix released Heartstopper (TV series). Alongside the likes of Girl in Red and Rina Sawayama, Ella Jane's was featured as part of the soundtrack.[9] Her song, "Nothing Else I Could Do" was in episode four, titled "Secret."[10]
