Ellison Medical Institute (EMI) is a research and clinical organization based in Los Angeles, California, focused on the prevention and treatment of cancer and other complex diseases.[1]. The Institute was founded in 2016 with a $200 million donation from Larry Ellison[2][3][4]. Formerly known as the Ellison Institute for Transformative Medicine[4][5], it rebranded as the Ellison Medical Institute as part of an expansion of its research and clinical programs.

The Institute is led by its Founding CEO, David B. Agus, an American physician, biomedical researcher, and author who also serves as a professor of medicine and engineering at the University of Southern California[6][7]

EMI’s programs integrate scientific research[8][9], clinical care, drug development, and technology to advance early detection and treatment of cancer[10][11][12], as well as a preventive medicine program. The Institute also uses artificial intelligence[13][14] to help apply discoveries from the laboratory to patient care.
