Elsa Demo

Elsa Demo is an Albanian culture journalist since 2000.[1]

Education

Elsa was born in Fier. She studied literature at the Faculty of History and Philology at the University of Tirana in 1999. She received her doctorate degree in 2020 in Literary Studies with the thesis "Albanian literature without its first reader. The case of the three authors: Kasëm Trebeshina, Shpëtim Gina, Jamarbër Marko". This thesis has important value in the field of literature as it contains literary manuscripts and daily notes of the writers.[2]

Professional life

Demo lives and works in Tirana. Her beginnings in culture journalism are in the Koha jonë and Korrieri newspapers. From 2003-2013, she worked as a journalist and culture editor, and for two years as a deputy editor-in-chief of the Shekulli newspaper.

Since 2013, she has reported on cultural affairs through her television programs, currently with the weekly program Artes on Albanian Television, RTSH.

She is the winner of the 2009 "Woytila" award in the international competition "Journalists of the Mediterranean", Italy.

With the writer and researcher Ardian Klosi, Demo has published two documentary and literary anthologies: the first about life under the dictatorship, Albania Remembers 1944-1991 and the second about the transition period, Albania Shows 1991-2010.

Demo is a member of the International Federation of Film Critics - FIPRESCI.[3]
