Else Methi with married name Bhattacharjee (17 May 1935 – 21 December 2006) was a Norwegian long track speed skater, who was active in the 1950s.

Speed skating[edit]

Methi was a member the speed skating club Oslo IL and became a member of the Norwegian national speed skating team.[1] At the 1958 Norwegian Allround Championships in Sandefjord she won the bronze medal behind Sonja Ackermann-Olsen and Jorun Tangen.[2]

Personal[edit]

Methi was born on 17 May 1935 in Lom, Norway as the daughter of Helge Gunnar Methi and Margareth Methi.[3] She had a brother called Hans.[1] She graduated from Hamar College of Commerce and Finance with a business degree. Next to speed skating she did recreational skiing and mountain trekking. When she was in England she met Ashim Bhattacharjee from India. They married in India and immigrated to Montreal, Canada, in 1964. In 1981 they moved to Calgary. Together with Bhattacharjee she had a twin sons named Ken Bhattacharjee and Colin Bhattacharjee. Methi died suddenly on 21 December 2006, aged 71.[1]
