Elske Rahill is an Irish Author, Playwright, and Critic. She is known for her debut novel, Between dog and Wolf (2013), and more recently for An Unraveling (2019). She is also the author of a number of short stories, some of which were compiled into her 2017 book In White Ink.[1][2]

Rahill graduated from Trinity College Dublin, with an M.Phil in creative writing, gender and women's studies.[3] She also had a career in theatre, during which she appeared in plays such as Ariel, where she played the title role of Ariel, She, Striker and many others. She was awarded best actress at the Hivers festival in 2002 for her role in Newspaper people.[4]

She is a mother of four, a frequent source of inspiration for her stories. Notably in In white Ink, which was described by the Irish Times as "A captivating collection of modern motherhood and marriage with plenty of heart"[5], she explores her view of motherhood, as well as modern femininity.[6] Her short story A Mother, a modern retelling of one of James Joyce's works of the same name, appeared in Dubliners 100, a collection of stories inspired by Dubliners.

Rahill has appeared on woman's hour.[7] and RTE radio 1[8], and mentioned in articles in The Irish times[5], The Irish Examiner[9] and The Guardian[10], in which she was described as "A stylist of the highest calibre"[10]
