The Emerging Multinationals Research Network (EMRN)[1] is a research group, under the auspices of the Emerging Markets Institute (EMI) at Cornell S.C. Johnson College of Business, Cornell University, and in collaboration with the Universidad de Los Andes in Colombia, Tec de Monterrey in México, Universidade de São Paulo, Centro Universitário FEI in Brazil, and Universidad de San Andrés in Argentina.

Biography[edit]

The group of scholars of the EMRN started meeting in 2014.

The EMRN has been advancing research on issues related to the surge of Emerging Markets (EMs) - Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Thailand, and Turkey[2] . Emerging markets now represent the world's largest share of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), having harnessed unprecedented gains in economic development and political influence in the past fifteen years. The EMRN contributes to the field of research in innovation, entrepreneurship and international business, focusing on the leading role played by Emerging Market Multinationals (i.e. multinationals from Emerging Markets.

In 2020, the group started the initiative of the EMRN Webinar Series in collaboration with Universidad the Los Andes

In 2021, the EMRN published the book "From Copycat to Leaders: Innovation from Emerging Markets." by Cambridge University Press.[3] The book was accomplished by the EMRN members. The book became global when experts in innovation from the Chinese Academy of Science and Technology for Development (CASTED) in China, Copenhagen Business School in Denmark, Kaunas University of Technology in Lithuania, Temple University in the U.S. and the University of Victoria in Canada joined the project in late 2018. The book also benefits from numerous exchanges and enriching discussions among a global team of 18 scholars from nine different countries who contributed chapters to the book.
