Emerson Kobak
Emerson Kobak is new, up and coming fashion designer[1].She made and runs her own website, displaying her creations and gives people the ability to purchase her works called Emerson Isa [2]. Her designs and clothing lines are showcased in all of her self-run fashion shows throughout the year. She is currently studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology [3]where she will get her degree in Fashion and Apparel Design and later apply it to climbing up the fashion industry ladder.
Background and Career Development[edit]
Her love for fashion started at the age of five years old, with simply sketching out clothing designs in notebooks laying around the house. When she turned six, her grandmother taught her to sew and her family bought her a sewing machine to call her own. At the age of eight, she created her first fashion business known as LOXO (Lots of Hugs and Kisses) in which she sold self-made pillows, phone case, and cases for recorders. She would donate a portion of her proceedings to a local charities such as Hadassah [4], Chabad [5], and a few organizations that were raising money from breast cancer awareness and research. A few years later she made her own Bar Mitzvah [6] dress. To build upon her fashion design knowledge and skills, she began attending Saturday classes at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. After that she also attended classes at Parsons School of Design [7]and a three-week course fashion program at Cornell University[8] over the summer. During this time, she founded the Fashion For a Cause [9] club at her high school. This brought upon an opportunity to work with Laura Maged [10] who is a local clothing boutique owner and fashion guru.This is when she made her website and started selling her clothing lines and promoting her brand on social media. Right now she is in the process of obtaining her Fashion and Apparel Design degree at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City.
Style[edit]
Emerson's clothing lines consist of edgy twists on everyday outfits. They are a symphony of colors and neutrals combined with corresponding accessories. Her SS 18' line, her latest, includes outfits with neon accents and black/white. These were accessorized with butterfly clips and textiles including cow designs, cherries, and camouflage.
