Emile Damey (born 1 April 1994 in Conakry, Guinea is an Australian- Liberian footballer playing for Burgan SC on loan as of 2016.
Immigrating to Australia at 11 years old, his main target is to play in the A-League, Australia's top division.[4]
Emile Damey was one of seven players to be signed by Kingston City FC for the upcoming 2017 NPL Victoria season.[3]
His mentor Tony Basha helped him contact an Indian Super League club for a possible deal in 2014.[5]
Work visa impediments prevented him from signing for a third-tier Spanish club, so he joined Manchester 62 F.C. in Gibraltar. Seeing that the Gibraltar Premier Division was on hiatus for six months, he was loaned to Burgan SC in Kuwait where he scored on his debut.[1]
International[edit]
Choosing to play for Liberia over Guinea and Australia,[6]he made his first cap in a 4–2 loss to the Morocco, hitting his first goal for Liberia in the 79th minute.[4]
Other than that, he was called up to the national team in the penultimate 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualification match facing Togo while playing for Nunawading City[7][8] but stayed on the bench. The Burgan SC player was also sidelined in a 4–1 defeat to Tunisia.[9]
Other[edit]
Damey created a charity called Boots 4 Liberia which aims to provide football boots to children living in impoverished areas in Liberia.[10]
