Emily Brett Barkann (born October 12, 1996) is an American journalist and Chief White House Correspondent for AKSM Media. Previously, she was an technical producer for CBS Radio before becoming an associate producer for NFL Films and HBO Films.[2] She is the daughter of Comcast SportsNet Philadelphia sportscaster Michael Barkann.[3][4]
Early life
Emily Barkann was born in Pennsylvania. Her father, Michael Barkann, is a sportscaster for Comcast SportsNet.
Barkann graduated from William Penn Charter School and went on to attend the Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. She majored in broadcast and digital journalism and minored in political science and sports management. Barkann was a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.[5] While attending Syracuse University, she was President of the Panhellenic Council.[6] Barkann then attended Villanova University for her master's where she majored in political science. She is also currently is a law student.[7]
Career
Barkann rose through many behind the scenes ranks as a technical producer for CBS Radio before landing a job as an associate producer for NFL Films and HBO Films. Barkann would start as Chief White House Correspondent for AKSM Media in 2022, a job which led her to gain a large following on the social media app TikTok after posting a day in life video from her perspective as a White House Correspondent.[8]
Awards
Barkann has won multiple awards, including a 2020 Emmy Award for Outstanding Trans-Media Sports Coverage as an associate producer.[9]
