Dr. Emily Jayne Cicali Schwartz is currently a clinical assistant professor at the University of Florida's Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research

Education[edit]

Dr. Schwartz graduated with her Bachelor of Science degree in pharmaceutical and Healthcare studies from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy at University of the Sciences. In 2015, she received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Philadelphia College of Pharmacy as well. She then went on to complete her PGY1 residency at Tabula Rasa HealthCare in Geriatric Personalized Medicine in New Jersey. After her residency, Dr. Schwartz spent about another year at Tabula Rasa HealthCare as a clinical research pharmacist. She also held an adjunct faculty position at the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy, which focused on clinical pharmacokinetics and pharmacogenomics implementation. From that experience, Dr. Schwartz found a deep interest and passion for teaching and academia, which lead her to transition into the University of Florida with a fellowship in pharmacogenomics under Dean Johnson. She completed her fellowship as of August 2018.

Research Interest[edit]

Dr. Schwartz is currently working on research on inhibitors and substrates and their relationship to medications. She is looking at the pharmacokinetic changes caused by CYP-inhibitors and seeing if primary literature from drug-drug interaction studies matches the FDA definition of the substrates/inhibitors. Dr. Schwartz also focuses on clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics and survey research to patients and prescribers.
