Emma Duncan is an American actress. She is best known for her role as Bette Munroe in the Netflix adaptation of Neil Gaiman's cult comic book The Sandman.

Early Life

Duncan attended the University of Virginia, where she studied Religion, Cognitive Science and Art. Upon graduating, she moved to New York City to study at the prestigious Graduate Acting Program at New York University Tisch School of the Arts . While in school she would originate roles in the musical adaptation of The Bridges of Madison County at Williamstown Theater Festival.[1] and the title role in Molly Smith Metzler's The May Queen at Chautauqua Theater Festival.[2] In her final year she won the prestigious Grace Le Vine Theater Honor from the Princess Grace Foundation Awards[3]

Career

Upon graduating NYU, Duncan would understudy Lily Rabe in Cymbeline at Shakespeare in the Park before being cast as a series regular in the Showtime pilot Mating[4] from Jason Katims and Stu Zicherman opposite Taran Killam and Jim Belushi. She would then guest star on Chicago Justice before landing a recurring role in the TNT pilot Civil. She originated the role of Gladys Vaughn in Richard Nelson's Illyria at The Public Theater. She would go on to recur on NBC's Chicago Med and AMC's Dietland. She would be cast as Bette Munroe in The Sandman in 2022.
