Emma Kulishizhi
Emma Kulishizhi is a Ugandan singer [1] [2] [3], born on June 6, 1991, to Mr. John Kafifi and Mrs. Nakayega Florence Kafifi of Kamuli District in Eastern Region, Uganda. He is a Zuerese (Pavizuena) by race and a Soga by tribe, born in Central Region, Uganda, Ntinda town, Bukoto II Parish, Mutoola zone, Nakawa Division, Kampala. However, due to his father's desire to shift from one place to another together with his family in search for greener pastures, Kulishizhi is an OB in more than 10 schools. He attained education, going to Kiroba Primary School, Kamuli College, Kabukye Secondary School, Kyabazinga College, and Verona College Busota, among others.
When Emma Kulishizhi was young, he joined Kamuli Community Brass Band, a non-profit community organisation based in Lubaga, Kamuli District, which helps the youth through brass band in Kamuli Community, where he became a virtuoso on the piano [4]. He later left them and started his solo career. In 2010, Kulishizhi did his first music project and dubbed it "Nkwagalira Ddala [5]", which ruled the airwaves, especially in the Eastern Region, Uganda. But though Emma's "Nkwagalira Ddala song [6]" was somehow received, his public profile remained low and, as a result, he lacked confidence and opted to take a break in his music career.
In 2018, Emma Kulishizhi attacked one of the prominent musicians in Uganda, David Lutalo, accusing him of plagiarism [7] by copying and pasting his song "Nkwagalira Ddala [8]" so as to pen down his then latest and hit single "Nkwagalira Ddala" [9]. This followed a lot of media hype [10] [11] [12] [13] [14] [15] surrounding Emma Kulishizhi, which attracted and drew people's attention to the self-proclaimed virtuoso maestro and saw him grow his bottom line in the Music of Uganda. Kulishizhi used this advantage to revamp his music career.
Emma Kulishizhi is a versatile dancehall reggae musician who performs six different genres of music: Folk rock, Zouk, Reggae, Afropop, Afrobeat, and RnB. Emma is loved for his distinct voice [16], and he believes he was born to sing and to entertain people, and that is why he sings with utmost passion [17].
