Emma Summerton

Emma Summerton (born 1970, Wollongong Nsw) is an Australian photographer and artist. She is currently based in London and New York.

Early Life

Emma Summerton was born in Wollongong, Australia and graduated from the National Art School in Sydney, where she studied fine arts majoring in Photography.

Career

Emma moved to London in 1998, where she worked as an assistant to artist Fiona Banner. Occasionally Summerton would collaborate with Fiona on photographic projects including shooting many images for Banner's first book released in 2003. In the last few years Emma has expanded into directing moving image for Vogue Italia, German Vogue, W magazine, River Island and Kate Spade. Most recently she directed a eyewear commercial for Dior in Cannes. She has done editorials for Italian, British, American, German and Australian Vogue, i-D, Self Service, Dazed & Confused, 10 magazine, Big Magazine and Nylon. Her commercial clients include Yves Saint Laurent, Miu Miu, Strenesse, Topshop, Agent Provocateur, Selfridges, Terry de Havilland, Bodyamr and Sony Music.
