Emmalotta Kanth (born on the 23rd of August 1997) is a Sámi singer and rapper, known as Etta. Etta is known for her participation in Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu 2026 (UMK 2026) with the song "Million Dollar Smile".
Background And Childhood:
Etta grew up on the suburbs of Vantaa, with her mother and four siblings. Her childhood is described as musical, as she played the flute and sung at school.[1] When she was 10, she took part in Talent Suomi[2] and sung "Respect" by Aretha Franklin, taking her to the Semi Finals. At 10, Etta was diagnosed with Alopecia (which causes hair, eyebrows and eyelashes to fall out[3]), which changed her identity and body image. She was introduced to rap as a teen.[4]
Heritage:
Etta considers her Sámi roots a source of motivation and strength. Her mother has land in Lapland and fishing rights. She listened to a Joik before she went onstage for Blockfest.[5]
