Emmanuel Bobobee
Emmanuel Yaovi Hunnuor Bobobee is a Ghanaian academic, researcher, innovator and politician who works at the Department of Agricultural and Bio-systems Engineering, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).[1][2] [3] He is a member of the Convention People's Party (CPP). In October 2020, he was chosen as the running mate to the flagbearer of the Convention People's Party (CPP), Mr. Ivor Kobina Greenstreet.[4][3]
Early life and Education
He had his senior high education at Sogakope Senior High School in 1975 and Advanced Level education at Mawuli School in 1977.[4] He then graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering in 1981 at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).[5]
Career
Bobobe is a member of the Ghana Institution of Engineers and is known for the invention of the Cassava Harvester[6], a tool that is used to uproot cassava plants when fixed to a tractor. He is an associate professor at the Department of Agriculture at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).[7][8]
Politics
In the 2008 General Election, he was the Convention People's Party's (CPP) Parliamentary Candidate for North Tongu Constituency in the Volta Region during the 2008 General Elections. Prior to the 2020 Ghanaian Elections, he was chosen by the flagbearer of the Convention People's Party, the party of the first President of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, to serve as his running mate.[1][9] As an academic, he was seen on platforms representing his party in debates which concentrated on educational reforms in Ghana, stating that some of the policy statements he reiterated at these debates included 3% of Ghana's GDP will be used to support university research and researchers whilst all second cycle institutions in Ghana would be made boarding and university education would be made free for all.[9][10] He campaigned on the lines that his party should be voted into power so they can save the nation from the two dominant parties, the National Democratic Congress and the New Patriotic Party [11][12]
