He was born in Holland,Netherlands and spent his early years in Turkey.[1]He moved to London at 10 years of age,a shift which he later said that made him introspective and subject of bullying at school.[2][3]Before his music career,he attended architecture school. He was involved in the construction of Brighton and Hove Abion's Amex stadium. He quit his job with KSS Group and used his savings to pay for a music video of the band's upcoming song "Real".[4]In an Interview,he said that he was never taught music but started making it when he was quite young. He used to buy devices with his own money. At 16 he got a laptop and got interested in production.Later on,he started using synthesizers.[5]

Music Career[edit]

Years & Years was formed in 2010 when Mikey Goldsworthy moved to London and met Emre online with both of them wanting to start a band. They then met Olly Alexander after overhearing him singing in the shower after a house party.[6] Years & Years' first single, called "I Wish I Knew" was released in July 2012 on the Good Bait label.[7]In 2013, the group signed a deal to the French label Kitsuné and released their second single, called "Traps" in September 2013.[8] Their third single, called "Real" was released by Kitsuné in February 2014. In 2014,the group signed a deal to Polydor Records. In January 2015, the band won BBC's Sound of 2015 poll.[9] Years & Years' most successful single, "King" released under Polydor, headed straight to number one in the UK Single Chart in March 2015, earning the band national recognition.[10] Their debut studio album, Communion, was released on 10 July 2015 and entered the UK Albums Chart at number 1.[11]As well as it being the fastest-selling debut album in 2015 from a UK signed band, it was also the first number one on the inaugural New Music Fridays release date, marking a moment in history.

After the end of their US tour,in 2016, he started a band with Years & Years's now former touring drummer Dylan Bell in Albuquerque named Exit Kid.[12] Turkmen described the beginning of the band as the result of him being on a "Gruelling US tour and was very monotonous and uninspired".The band was described as "Entirely different from the pop band(Years & Years),with a heavy grunge sound"[13].Their first gig was at the Sebright Arms Pub.Their singles include "Caesar","It's Cool","Who you Fooling" and "Remember Remember"

Personal Life[edit]
