Enable Prize
Enable Prize is an official arts and literature competition for the physically or mentally handicapped, organized by the Ministry of Culture (formerly known
as the Council for Cultural Affairs) in Taiwan since 1998, and has been held for 21 years until 2022. Enable Prize aims to encourage citizens with
disabilities to engage in artistic and literary creation, express their inner feelings, and inspire their enthusiasm for life, meanwhile, to nurture talents in
art and literary creation and discover rising stars among people with physical and mental disabilities.[1] In 2011 (the 10th edition), the National Changhua Living Art Center took over to organize the event. Since 2014, in addition to the essay contest, the award-winning works were exhibited physically in four regions in Taiwan: north, central, south, and east, and audio books and ebooks were available online. Ricky Hsiao was the first prize winner in the songwriting category in the 1st "Enable Prize".
Writer You Gao-yan, currently studying in the Department of Chinese Literature, National Central University. Since 2011, when he was awarded
the Merit Award in the elementary group of the 10th competition's literature category, he has won eight awards until the 21st Enable Prize
held in 2022, and has published the book My Life with Earthlings.[5]
Illustrator Zhan Zheng-rong (Shanlin) won first prize in the 19th picture book category.[6][7][8]
