EngageDXB
EngageDXB is a consolidated virtual platform for individuals and organizations- both in the public and private sector to engage and network in their professional circles. It is conceived by Department of Economic Development, on behalf of the Government of Dubai, to function as a virtual business hub. The first version of EngageDXB was launched in July 2018, to provide the networking needs of business councils and groups. Any individual, business or business owner from anywhere in the world can sign up for free on EngageDXB and thus it allows international businesses to connect with local Dubai businesses and vice versa. This also enables global networking opportunities for small businesses.

Overview[edit]
EngageDXB is mainly used for professional networking for businesses registered in the Emirate of Dubai- both mainland and free zones. EngageDXB acts as the cross-over zone by allowing private businesses to have direct access to the Department of Economic Development, Dubai. EngageDXB also has provisions to post job openings and to search for jobs, to organize and attend events, to join various business groups etc.
The CEO of the Corporate Strategic Affairs sector in Dubai Economy, Mohammed Shael Al Saadi, while launching the latest version of the app in November 2020, stated:[1]
“EngageDXB is a significant initiative that will bring every aspect of doing business, from liaising with government authorities, clients and partners to decision-making related to operations, management and development, on a smart platform accessible from anywhere, anytime. EngageDXB will continue to enhance the platform with more value-added features to grow the application with the aim of serving Dubai’s business and employee needs. We have an active Business Community Engagement program in place to serve the interests of the various business groups and councils. We listen to feedback and ideas to improve our economy, especially as the COVID 19 crisis has further strengthened the engagement process, where both the business community and Dubai Economy have consulted each other to share ideas and feedback. Our digital engagement through EngageDXB has strengthened and enabled us to reach out to the business community instantly to hear and work on recommendations to resolve on-ground challenges. EngageDXB will be the business engagement platform for the economy to sustain public and private sector relationships."
It was in 2018, version 1 of EngageDXB was launched. Since then, the platform has evolved into a complete business engagement platform with the inclusion of numerous feature enhancements and technology upgrades. In November 2020, version 4 of the project had started.
Mission[edit]
EngageDXB is set up with a mission “to formulate and set up a reliable platform that allows the users to interact and engage in the right circles, so that they will be equipped to position themselves in a way that would grow their business and network simultaneously.”[2]
Vision[edit]
The vision behind the conception of EngageDXB is to create and nurture a trusted ecosystem that will help individuals and businesses to engage, interact and explore the business community in Dubai and across the globe and vice versa.[2]
Platform and Features[edit]
EngageDXB is a B2B engagement platform for individuals and organizations to collaborate and engage with the business communities globally. Every registered company and people working in Dubai can make use of this platform and utilize EngageDXB for networking, to find ideal business partners, to share ideas within groups etc. The platform is made up of a mobile application (for iOS and Android) and a complimenting website.
Networking[edit]
Networking is one of the core features of EngageDXB which allows any person or organization to get access to like-minded individuals. The platform allows individuals and businesses from all around the world to sign up, which enables the outside world to connect with businesses in Dubai as well as the ones in Dubai to expand their network globally.[3][4]
Digital Business Cards[edit]
In February 2020, EngageDXB introduced the feature - Digital Business Cards; to create and customize business cards within the platform and to share with others by scanning a QR code. This feature was introduced keeping in mind the pressing climate change issues. This feature comes under the Dubai Paperless Strategy[5][6] which promotes businesses to adapt smarter, eco-friendly practices. When a user is registered on the EngageDXB app, a digital business card is created and the user can customize it according to their profession.
Idea Pool[edit]
In February 2020, EngageDXB introduced Idea pooling where all residents of Dubai and businesses are encouraged to contribute a creative concept to make it a reality. Idea Pool is set up with the aim to open opportunities by pitching ideas or suggestions on initiatives that can improve the social and well-being of the Government.[7][8]
Polls[edit]
In March 2020, EngageDXB rolled out Polls feature, which enables a user to attain real-time poll feedbacks from fellow users on a specific subject. The Polls on EngageDXB take on-the-spot feedback from your audience at any time.[9] A user can create a poll on EngageDXB to ask a question, customize the answers, and let people vote for their favorite option, thus enabling direct engagement with the community.
Events[edit]
Dubai Economy offers an event management platform for users and corporates registered on EngageDXB[10]. EngageDXB event module allows the user to explore, decide, attend an event. As a host, the user can manage the agenda, speakers, and Q&A. Attendees can digitally register and start networking with other attendees by making use of the handshake feature in the platform. The user can also share and invite others to join the event with them.[11][11]
Business Community and Pages[edit]
EngageDXB groups provide a place for professionals with similar interests or in the same industry to share content, view jobs, find new opportunities for investments, make business contacts, and establish themselves as industry experts.[12] Pages on EngageDXB offers companies to post their industry updates, job opportunities, updates about life at their companies etc. Business groups, country council, and associations in Dubai are available on EngageDXB. Users can digitally interact with group members and follow the pages to get updates from businesses and companies. Anyone with a EngageDXB account can create a page.[13]
Government Sectors [edit]
Users can connect directly with government officials in different government entities – they can look up employees by sector or agency and connect with them through the EngageDXB app. Users can also see the latest updates on initiatives from these government entities.
Dubai Economy [edit]
EngageDXB provides a platform that gives the users access to the Dubai Economy officials – they can look up employees by sector or agency and connect with them. In case of any suggestions/queries/feedback/complaints to be submitted to Dubai Economy– users can submit them through the DED page monitored by the Director General’s office where they will be reviewed & assigned to the necessary sector/department within to be resolved asap.
Consumer Rights[edit]
The Consumer Rights portal in EngageDXB allows the users of EngageDXB to connect with employees of the Corporate Commercial Compliance and Consumer sector easily. It also allows the user to submit complaints to the Corporate Commercial Compliance and Consumer sector, directly from within the app.
Careers[edit]
Careers feature provides the users access to Dubai Careers, which is a Smart Dubai platform to support public sector job openings and help people to seek jobs. This module also facilitates government organizations to post jobs, find the right skill, and support Emiratisation. Companies can also create online job posts on EngageDXB for open positions at their organization. Job seekers can search for these opportunities, save for later, or apply for suitable jobs from the portal.
Messaging[edit]
EngageDXB Messaging allows a user to communicate with other EngageDXB members that they are connected through the app. Communication with a connection can be initiated directly from your Messaging page. Photos, texts, and current locations can be shared through this feature.
Business Tenders[edit]
EngageDXB enabled business tenders in which a consumer will have access to all government tenders. Users will get access to all government tenders and business opportunities that would help them grow businesses globally through tendering.
Stories[edit]
In August 2020, EngageDXB announced its stories feature which allows users to share short user-generated photos and scribbles that can be viewed and disappear after 24 hours. The feature enables you to share multiple photos and scribbles, and they appear together in a slideshow format. People can show more content without creating an excess of posts on their EngageDXB page.
Membership Management[edit]
Even though membership management was possible in the app for business communities from version 1, along with version 4 in April 2021, EngageDXB rolled out membership management for Community Development Authority (CDA) where users can apply to be members of various associations in CDA from the app. Once they fill in their details and upload a copy of their passport, visa and emirates ID, these are sent for verification to the admin on whose approval, their membership process to associations can be completed.
Election Management[edit]
EngageDXB added the election management feature in April 2021, where elections for key positions in various associations can be conducted through the app. The admins of the associations on the approval of the CDA super admin can set-up the election and fix a panel and the members can cast their votes for the candidate of their choosing and the result can also be published through the app.
Registration[edit]
Registration and usage of EngageDXB is free. The EngageDXB app is available in App Store as well as Play Store. Users can register using UAE pass as well as with their social media accounts. Registration can also be done through www.engagedxb.gov.ae.

The audience using EngageDXB are the business owners and investors, private sector employees, government officials, freelancers.
