Engato, also marketed as Life of a Skater, is a Ugandan sports film written and directed by Moses Devoss. It's a story based on Uganda's inline skating as a game. It aims at portraying the experiences of a Ugandan skater on the streets, according to the Uganda Skating Federation, street skating is illegal.[1]
Plot
Larry, having endured isolation from the community and his father, the loss of his brother in a car accident, and his mother's illness, is given a new life after meeting Tania, the daughter of the psychiatrist who treated his mother.
Cast
Engato featured Shafiq Devoss as Larry, Jeff Roberts as Larry's father, Merc Boltwood, and Dr. Jude Kabagambe. Also appearing is Deviss Julius.
Release and reception
The film was to premiere at the Uganda National Cultural Center in Kampala, Uganda.[2] However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, screenings were postponed until December 25.
