Engel Entertainment, Inc. (formerly Engel Brothers Media[1]) is an Emmy Award-winning production company that is best known for producing long-running television series and documentaries.[2] Based in New York City, Engel Entertainment was created in 1996 by President and Executive Producer Steven M. Engel.[3] Engel Entertainment’s documentaries and series have aired on a variety of networks such as PBS, Animal Planet, Bravo, Travel Channel and Discovery.[4]

Engel Entertainment’s most popular TV shows include Untying the Knot, a series on Bravo about a divorce attorney, and North Woods Law and Lone Star Law, two weekly television series that air on Animal Planet.[5][6][7] These shows follow game wardens in Maine and Texas, respectively. North Woods Law switched to filming conservation officers in New Hampshire in 2016.[8][9]

A Walk to Beautiful, Engel Entertainment’s first feature documentary was released in 2007.[10] The documentary was conceived when a friend of Steve Engel brought him a New York Times op-ed about women suffering from obstetric fistula in rural Ethiopia and asked him, “What are you going to do about this?”[11] After gathering funding from the United Nations Population Fund and filming in Ethiopia, the film was released in major theaters, aired on PBS’ Nova series in 2008 and screened at the United Nations headquarters on April 7, 2008.[12] The film won an Emmy Award in 2009, the International Documentary Association’s award for Best Documentary of the Year in 2008 and the Audience Award at the San Francisco International Film Festival.[12]

Engel Entertainment’s second feature documentary, Sea Change, follows a South African couple that rowed across the Atlantic Ocean.[13] The documentary, released on April 25, 2018,[14] won the Remi Special Jury Award at the 51st Annual WorldFest Houston.[15]
