English dragon banner
The dragon banner was a flag flown by various English rulers from the 8th to the 15th century. The banner can be traced back to 752 where it was flown during the Battle of Burford.
Initially used as a royal standard by the Anglo-Saxon kings, it fell out of use following the Norman Conquest until the reign of King Richard I, where it reappeared to symbolise total war.
