Enlace Hacktivista is a website dedicated to documenting hacker history and educational resources, publish news relevant to hackers "with a focus on supporting hackers imprisoned or facing trial"[1] and gives hackers a space "to publish their hacks, leaks, and communiques."[1][2][3]

History[edit]

In May 2022, Enlace Hacktivista published 285,635 emails allegedly belonging to Nauru Police.[4][5] The publication came with a statement from a group of hackers saying they were motivated by the island's immigration processing and detention facility operated by Australia. The hackers claimed that the "emails related to abuses that they tried to cover up."[4] In response, Australian Federal Police asked Enlace Hacktivista's webhost to take the site down "on the basis that material published on this website originated from unlawful activity."[6] The webhost, FlokiNET, publicly responded, "Nice try to shut down whistleblower websites but this will not be possible with the ones we host. The public has a right to know what’s happening in Nauru and you will not stop it."[6][7]

In July 2022, Enlace Hacktivista published a leak of 74 gigabytes of data linked to evangelical organizations, most notably Liberty Counsel, which has been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center.[8] The leak showed that the 501(c)(3) nonprofits controlled by Liberty Counsel pushed supporters to vote for Donald Trump in an apparent violation of IRS rules.[8][9][10][11]

In August 2022, Enlace Hacktivista published 2 terabytes of emails from mining companies in Central and South America which had been hacked by Guacamaya.[2][3] In November 2022, FlokiNET received another takedown notice from Ecuador's Directorate of Cyber Intelligence, requesting that Enlace Hacktivista's "Extractivist Leaks" be removed. FlokiNET refused.[12]

In September 2022, the site published 10 terabytes of emails Guacamaya had hacked from the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Chilean Armed Forces, the Mexican Secretariat of National Defense, the National Civil Police of El Salvador and the Armed Forces of El Salvador, the General Command of the Military Forces of Colombia, the Joint Command of the Armed Forces of Peru and the Army of Peru.[13][3] The leaked files included emails sent and received between 2012 and May 2022 by the Chilean Joint Chiefs of Staff (EMCO), the agency in charge of intelligence, operations and logistics for national defence purposes,[14] and 4.1 million emails from SEDENA date from 2016 to 2022 and include communications between the Secretary of Naitonal Defense and the Secretary of the Navy, data on the health of the President, and contracts for the construction of the Mayan train.[15][16][17] This leak is considered the largest in the history of Mexico.[18]

In January 2023, Enlace Hackstivista's webhost received a takedown request from Cellebrite's lawyers about leaked documentation and tools. The webhost refused and said "this request clearly attempts to use copyright laws to suppress free speech and media, which is not legal."[19]
