The Office of Inspector General (OIG) for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has statutory authority for the oversight of the internal functions and external programs of the EPA pursuant to the Inspector General Act of 1978. The office is comprised of the Office of Audit, the Office of Counsel and Congressional and Public Affairs, the Office of the Chief of Staff, the Office of Investigations, the Office of Management, and the Office of Special Review and Evaluation[2]. The EPA OIG also oversees the U.S. Chemical Safety and Hazard Investigation Board per the Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990[3]
