After graduating in Psycholinguistics at the University of Cà Foscari, Venice, he started in the 1980s to attend electronic music studios. He produced Poems in word[5], Radio Beograd (1983), Diario Come[6], Rai Radio Uno, Rome, 1982 and Autopoema Autoradio y Autodestrucción[7], radio-poema polipoético para todas las ciudades invisibles, for Italo Calvino, with the music of Ares Tavolazzi of the rock group Area, Radio Nacional Dos, Madrid, 1992. In 1993 he was commissioned to read Dante's Inferno, Bayerischer Rundfunk, Hörspiel, Munich, 1993 then in Andreas Ammer-FM Einheit, Radio Inferno (from Divina Commedia, Dante Alighieri), CD. ISSN B000031X9R

His contribution to the electronic arts is represented by the Manifesto della Polipoesia (1987, Tramesa d’Art, Valencia) (1) which theorizes the practice of sound poetry in the form of performance. He organizes Polypoetry Festivals (2) in collaboration with the Centre for Contemporary Culture Barcelona (CCCB)[8], the Reykjavik Art Museum [9], the VEC Archive of Maastricht [10] and the DAMS of Bologna directed by Umberto Eco [11].

In 2009 the Lincoln Center in New York opened an exhibition of sound poetry vinyls produced in the Eighties under the acronym 3ViTre Polypoetry Records (3), acquiring all the titles in the catalogue as the British Library in London had already done years earlier. An evening of Polypoetry is organized for the occasion at the Bruno Walter Auditorium.

Since the mid-seventies he has organized an Archive 3Vitre of Polypoetry [12] where he keeps original materials of visual, sound poetry, videopoetry, polypoetry, correspondence, volumes, vinyls, audio and video cassettes. Part of this collection can be permanently consulted at La Voce Regina in the Biblioteca Sala Borsa, Bologna, in some Departments of the University of Bologna and in the Rodgers & Hammerstein Archives of Recorded Sound, New York.

Video events

In 2012 the Bologna Cineteca programs an anthology of his video poems[13], rearranging La Bandiera/The Flag[14] created in 1989 for the Italia 90 World Football Cup and the Studio Bocchi in Rome as a tribute to the Italian national team, in fact it was exhibited at the Olympic Stadium in Rome for all the period of the sporting event. 1999 Millennium Poem[15] was screened during a videopoetry laboratory led by Tom Konyves at the IULM University of Milan, 2018.

The videopoem Con Sonanti[16] is exibited in La Conscienza Luccicante, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome, 1998, while the video installation of sound poetry The sky and the earth tell that the four cardinal points are three: the north-south and the south-north[17], is mounted during Arte & Comunicazione '99, Palazzo delle Esposizioni, Rome, 1999. He collaborates with DoctorClip, in the festival of Romapoesia as a member of the international jury, and videopoetry expert,(3) Parco della Musica Auditorium, Rome, 2005.

With the piece Eterne Vocali I (4) (1982) he takes part in La Voix Libérée - Poésie sonore (La Voce Liberata - Poesia Sonora), Palais de Tokyo, Paris, 2019.

"The qualification that most belongs to Enzo Minarelli is that of poet, perhaps going back on the occasion to the etymological meaning of the word, for which he would be a "maker" with the noblest material available to man such as the word, in its two faces, sound and graphics"[18]

FOOTNOTES

1) Paul Zumthor writes, "from the articulated language, going back to that energy that underlies it, undertaking a truly vital effort to capture what is in the work during the genesis of words and phrases: something indefinable, audible therefore tangible, penetrating, perfectly concrete. Such is Enzo Minarelli's Polypoetry, the claim of totality, within the ontological freedom of sounds; tenacious will to arouse another language".
