The Epping Forest Independent Group (EFIG) is a group of independent councillors that came together in January 2024.[1] The group, which is not a registered political party, does not have any formal policies. It was formed 12 days before the short-lived Epping and Rural Independent Group.[2]

EFIG formed when one Conservative Party councillor left the group and joined with an existing independent councillor on the Council. When the 2024 Epping Forest District Council elections took place, EFIG stood seven candidates and gained two councillors in that election, allowing it to continue to function as a Council group.

The group seeks to demonstrate that "Independent means standing up for residents rather than political interests and taking forward commonsense concerns held by the community, to foster confidence from locals that decisions are being made transparently, democratically and in their interest."[3]
