Epstein Transparency Project 2025

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Thanks both, the project is a FBI project and the act is an act of Congress, they are not the same despite both being about the Epstein files. This is addressed in the draft. The article is sparse on details to start but should expand over time as more information is released around the FBI’s releasing of the files. —NajordII (talk) 04:26, 3 December 2025 (UTC)

The Epstein Transparency Project, also known as the Special Redaction Project, is a project of the US Federal Bureau of Investigations surrounding the accumulation and preparation of the public release of the Epstein files.[1]. Among it's duties are to prepare and distribute training materials, workflow guidelines, and coordination between multiple divisions on the redaction of the Epstein files. Although related in subject to the Epstein Files Transparency Act, the bulk of the actions of the project occurred in the 1st half of 2025 following the second inauguration of Donald Trump, prior to the bill passing on November 19, 2025.

The project was first brought to light by Bloomberg journalist Jason Leopold following a Freedom of Information Act request on November 25, 2025[2]. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino responded to the release of the projects existence on November 30th, defending the redactions.

English: Folks, I entered on duty on March 17th. The emails in the chain you see forwarded to me, at my request, were sent before I began in my position. I wanted to review what have been done before I entered on duty. It was a priority and, as you can see, they responded immediately. I’m glad that these emails are available for your review.

The FBI spent 4,737 hours of overtime spread across 7 months from January to July 2025 at a total expense of $851,344 on the project[4], though regular hours worked have not been released. Though internet rumors have stated the purpose of the project is to redact US President Donald Trump's name from the files, no evidence of such a purpose or training exists.

Personnel from several FBI divisions have participated in the project including the Counterintelligence Division, Counterterrorism Division, Criminal Investigative Division, Cyber Division, the Directorate of Intelligence, and more[5]
