Eric Anthony López

Eric Anthony López (born December 14, 1994) is an American theater actor and vocalist. He played Ubaldo Piangi in a 2018 rendition of The Phantom of The Opera. López is a former American Idol Season 14 contestant.[1][2][3][4]

Early life and education[edit]

López was born to Edward John López and Milagros Feliciano, in Suffolk County, NY. He has two brothers.[3]

He attended Shoreham-Wading River High School (2009-2013).[5] In 2013, he enrolled in Manhattanville College in Purchase, NY. While studying at Manhattanville College as a freshman, he participated in American Idol, making it to Hollywood's week and semi-finals.[2]

López left Manhattanville College in 2014 without graduating to join the Off-Broadway Company of The Jackie Mason Musical, where he was a standby.[2] Upon turning 20, he played a full-time role in The Jackie Mason Musical for over a year.[6]

Career[edit]

In 2016, he left for London to work on Carmen. At 23 years of age, he returned to New York and performed in Crazy For You. Later, López made his straight play debut in Master Class, playing the role of Anthony.[5]

López went to Chicago to do Master Classright before joining Phantom in March 2018.7,8 He opened the World Tour of The Phantom of The Opera, and is associated with Phantom until August 2022.[6]

López is a member of Actors' Equity and SAG/AFTRA.[7]

López's debut album, 21 & Counting, included duets with Rebecca Luker and Natalie Weiss.[1]
