Eric Barrak (born October 20, 1977) is a Canadian professional boxer who competes in the heavyweight division.

Early Life and Professional Career

Barrak was born in Hull, Quebec. At the age of 17, he joined the Olympic Club of boxing to learn boxing basics. He made his professional boxing debut on 25 November 2005 at the age of 28 against Canadian Mike Milligan at the Club Soda, Montreal, winning by KO.[1] His second fight was set with another Canadian boxer Stephane Tessier at the Club Soda, Montreal. Most of the time Barrak had the upper hand in the fight and won by KO.[2] Barrak's third fight was against Ritchie Goosehead after a span of two years at Salle des loisirs de St-Jerome, Saint-Jerome. During the first round, Goosehead was down three times, which enforced the referee to halt the fight and declare Barrak winner by the three knockdown rule, setting his total record to 3-0 in 2008. His next fight was against an American, Matt Weishaar, in Montreal at Pierre-Charbonneau Centre. Barrak won by KO in the first round.[3] He received attention when he defeated American Richard Bryant in 23 seconds at the Palais des Sports de Jonquière in June 2011, setting his record to 4-0.[4]

He faced Eric Esch, commonly known as Butterbean, in a Mixed martial arts match on 7 October 2011.[5][6] Before this match, Barrak had appeared only in boxing matches, and according to critics, experienced Butterbean had the upper hand in this fight.[7] The fight lasted till the third round when Barrak applied a guillotine choke to win the match.[8] Barrak won his next two fights by knock out against Cullen Rogers and Sandy Pembroke in the span of one month. In 2013, he had issues with the support staff, followed by a divorce with his wife.[9] He had a match with Canadian boxer Didier Bence on June 8, 2013, which resulted in losing his winning streak.[10][11] Barrak lost his first match and set his career record to 6-1. On May 31, 2014, Barrak will be back in action in a heavyweight bout against Hungarian Istvan Ruzsinszky at Vaudreuil Arena, Vaudreuil-Dorion.[12][13]
