Early Life

Ita was born in Calabar, Cross River State, Nigeria, to political parents. His father, Lawrence Eyo Ita, the only son of Professor Eyo Ita, was an educationalist who earned seven degrees, including PhDs in mechanical and civil engineering, and his mother graduated with a law degree and became Chairwoman of the Cross River State National Park. Lawrence, his father, had four children, of whom Ita and his younger sister Lauretta shared the same father and mother. His mother had five children previously. As a child, Ita wanted to become a pilot but later discovered he had vision problems.

He attended Access Primary School, Corona Secondary School, and Caleb International College in Nigeria. In 2001, he moved to the United States of America with his younger sister Lauretta Ita, where he attended Western High School for a year and then transferred to the College of Southern Nevada’s high school program, where he graduated in 2003.

Career

He began working as a fashion and runway model in Nevada and California, where he walked for clients such as Guess, Fila, and Converse. He appeared in magazines and a host of adverts and commercials, including one for McDonald's.

In 2005, Ita bought his first camera and began assisting more established photographers. As his interest grew, he took a job as a nightlife photographer for spyonvegas.com, a popular nightlife website. In 2008, he decided to invest in his first photography studio and began working as a full-time photographer while attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas as a film student. He graduated in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and traveled to Cannes, where he secured an internship with American Express at the Cannes Film Festival.

Between 2008 and 2017, he photographed prominent politicians such as United States Representative Steven Horsford and former Mayor Oscar Goodman, musicians such as The Killers and LMFAO, actors such as John C. Reilly and James Franco, some of the world’s top DJs, and athletes, including Golden State Warrior Shaun Patrick Livingston’s wedding to his wife Joanna Livingston. He frequently works with advertising agencies to create socially relevant ads for the state of Nevada.

In 2018, Ita began hosting photography workshops through a partnership with Airbnb.

Private Life

On October 1, 2017, Ita ran a live broadcast of the Route 91 shooting on his Facebook page, which was immediately shared with almost 100,000 people across America. He was invited to Courtney Dawn's Channel 8 news segment to share his experience. The incident sparked a need to rediscover himself and sent him on a journey around the world. During the interview[5], Ita mentioned that he no longer feels afraid, and that is a great driving force for living a fulfilled life. Already a notorious wanderer, he has been to 33 countries as of 2019. He resides in Las Vegas, NV, with Juicebox, his 11-year-old German Shepherd dog.
