Eric Leonard (born October 5th, 1995) is an American soccer player who plays as a defensive midfielder for Forward Madison FC in USL League One. On April 19th, 2019 he made his first professional start against Orlando City B.
Career[edit | edit source]
Leonard grew up in Palatine, Illinois and played college soccer at Butler University from 2014 to 2017. In 2016, Leonard had the game-winning goal in Butler's BIG EAST Championship victory over Creighton (11/13/16) and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team. In 2017, he earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors Oct. 23 for his role in shutouts against Villanova and No. 1 Indiana. The team finished the season by winning their first ever Big East Men's Conference Championship and Butler's first NCAA Sweet Sixteen appearance.
