Eric D. Subin
Eric D. Subin (born April 3rd, 1986) is an American attorney and a lawyer at the New York-based law firm, Subin Associates, LLP. He is an established trial litigator specializing in personal injury and civil litigation, and a frequent commentator on media outlets such as CourtTV and Fox5NY.
Education
In 2008, Subin began his studies at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctor (J.D.) by 2011.[1] Prior to this, he graduated from Emory University with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and philosophy.[2] After completing his J.D., Subin pursued additional certifications in international law, including studies at the University of Oxford and the Cayman Islands Law School.[2] Since 2012, he has been a licensed and practicing attorney in the State of New York.[2]
Career
International Career
After graduating from the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, Eric Subin went on to work in international courts, including the Special Court for Sierra Leone.[3] During this period, he worked under the Office of the Prosecutor, led by Brenda J. Hollis, during the prosecution of former Liberian President Charles Taylor. Charles Taylor was arrested in 2006 with an indictment of 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity.[4] His trial was held in The Hague, Netherlands, and he was found to be “an impediment to stability and a threat to the peace” in Liberia. Taylor was ultimately convicted on 11 counts of war crimes and crimes against humanity and sentenced to 50 years’ imprisonment, which he is serving in the United Kingdom.[4]
Following this experience, Subin worked as an Associate Attorney at DeHeng Law Offices in Beijing, China, from 2011 to 2012.[1] In this role, he assisted with complex contract review for corporate clients and matters related to international trade compliance, as described in professional legal directory profiles.[5]
Subin Associates
After building his international legal experience, Eric Subin transitioned back to the United States to establish his career in New York. In 2012, he joined Subin Associates, LLP, where he practices as a trial attorney focusing on personal injury litigation and is identified in court records as an attorney and part-owner of the firm.[6] His practice includes representing clients in civil matters across state and federal courts, with case work involving construction accidents, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, wrongful death, trucking accidents, and police misconduct claims.[6]
His professional profiles state that he has "successfully won over $250 million in settlements and verdicts" over the last decade.[7] The firm's website lists numerous multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. These include a $25 million settlement for an injured construction worker and a $21 million Bronx jury verdict for a truck driver who slipped and fell, as well as many cases that settled between $2.9 and $14.75 million.[7]
Awards and Media Appearances
Awards and Recognition
Subin's professional excellence has been acknowledged through several prestigious accolades. He has been named to the New York Metro Super Lawyers list for multiple consecutive years, from 2017 to 2023.[8] This honor is awarded to only the top five percent of attorneys in the state. He was also selected for the National Trial Lawyers Top 40 Under 40 list in 2019, an exclusive group that recognizes the most outstanding young trial lawyers.[8] Additionally, Subin received a Scholastic Excellence Award from the University of Denver and placed second in the Leonard v. B. Sutton International Law Writing Competition.[8]
Media Appearances and Commentary
Eric is a regular contributor to CourtTV, where he provides analysis on a variety of legal topics and high-profile trials.[9][10] His commentary has been featured on news outlets such as Fox5NY and WABC Radio, where he has discussed issues ranging from police brutality and civil rights, to cases involving animal law.[11][12][13]
Legal Controversies
Subin and his family firm, Subin Associates, LLP, have been named as defendants in lawsuits alleging the fabrication of accident claims and the exaggeration of injuries.[14] In the federal RICO lawsuit filed by plaintiffs Roosevelt Road Re and Tradesman Program Managers, a U.S. District Court judge dismissed the case in June 2025.[15][16] The judge ruled that the plaintiffs failed to adequately prove direct financial injury under the RICO statute. The dismissal was without prejudice.[16] A separate but similar RICO lawsuit has also been filed by Union Mutual Fire Insurance Company, and is ongoing.[17]
Personal Life
Eric D. Subin is married to Shannon Geraghty. His wife is a former beauty pageant titleholder, having been crowned Miss Georgia Teen USA in 2008.[18]
