Erin Mendenhall
Erin Mendenhall (born 1980) is an American politician from Salt Lake City, Utah. A Democrat, she serves as city councilor for the city's 5th District.[1] She is a candidate in the 2019 general election for mayor of Salt Lake City, having received the highest number of votes in the August 13 primary election.[2]
Early life, education, and career[edit]
Mendenhall has resided in Salt Lake City since 1998.[3] She is a graduate of the University of Utah with a B.S. in Gender Studies and a 2012 certificate in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of Utah's Nonprofit Academy for Excellence.[4]
She worked for Breathe Utah, a non-profit organization advocating for air quality,[5] and remains on their advisory board.[4]
Political career[edit]
Mendenhall won her first election to Salt Lake City Council for District 5 in November 2013.[6] She was re-elected in 2017.
In addition to serving as a city councilor, Mendenhall chairs the Air Quality Board of the Utah Department of Environmental Quality.[7][8]
She is a candidate for the 2019 Salt Lake City mayoral election.[9] She received the highest number of votes in the August 13 primary, and will face second-place finisher Luz Escamilla in the November general election.[10]
